Let Your Smart Home Manage Everyday Living for You
For those of you who have started accruing smart devices, you know the ease of living they provide. No more getting up from the couch to close the shades and dim the lights when it’s movie night. Now, you pull one app up for the shades and another for the lights, allowing you to manage each device separately from the comfort of your den.
So, where does home automation fit in?
This smart technology takes an unfathomable leap into smart home living. It creates the perfect atmosphere for life's unique occasions with one touch or voice command, or simply by your presence. At Horner Networks, we partner with Control4, the global leader in home automation platforms. Together, we make life easier, more beautiful, and incredibly fun.
Let’s see how it’s done.

Simplifying Routines
As humans, we are creatures of habit. From morning until night, we perform specific tasks, making life easier and ensuring we remember the essentials. For some, that means jumping out of bed in the morning, adjusting the temperature, heading to the home gym, and turning on the exercise video.
Others like to lounge a bit longer, letting the first break of dawn wake them as their motorized shades open at sunrise. They lay back briefly, listening to their ‘Inspirational’ playlist stream through the whole-home audio system and watching the lights transition around them to the same color as the early morning.
When it’s time for dinner, the kitchen's pendant and undercabinet lights brighten to help prepare the meal. The lights in the dining room turn to candlelight, and the soothing sounds of John Legend stream through the room.
As you can see, the secret to optimized smart home living lies in the customization, creating a home that performs exactly as you want it to, when you want it to.
Setting the Scenes
Programming scenes let you tap a button to create the ideal setting. Was it a long day at the office? Press ‘Relax,’ and the lights in the living room transition to the color of a Caribbean sunset while Kalapana’s soothing melodies stream through in-ceiling speakers. At the same time, the spa heats, the outdoor fire pit ignites, and the landscape lights illuminate your backyard with moonbeams and fireflies.
In addition to varying moods, you can schedule your home to respond to life’s activities, from entertaining to watching a movie or focused concentration.
When it’s time for bed, say goodnight, and the lights dim, the shades lower, the AV equipment turns off, the doors lock, and the alarm arms.
Welcoming You Home
Using geofencing, we can program your home to respond to your presence. Pulling into the driveway at night triggers your outdoor and hallway lights to turn on. When you walk into your home, tap the Control4 keypad by the door to create a setting that aligns perfectly with your mood.
Protecting Your Home While You’re Away
According to law enforcement, one of the best things you can do to protect your home when away is presence simulation—creating the illusion that you’re home. While many people turn lights on with a timer, this same-time occurrence is a red flag alerting potential intruders that you may not be present.
Control4 offers a ‘Vacation Mode.’ This setting programs your system to mimic your daily routines, such as turning lights on and off at specific times and raising and lowering the shades. This creates the appearance that you’re home when you’re on vacation.
While you’re away, you can check in via the Control4 App. Did you forget to lock the door and arm the alarm on your way out? With one tap on the app, it’s done.
No matter where you are in the world, you have your home in the palm of your hand.
